According to this report, a team of Maserati executives paid a recent visit to India. It also added that the company will open exclusive Maserati stores in major cities across India to cater to sales and service of this exclusive sports car. They will probably start with three – Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
If this indeed comes true, with this exclusive launch in India, Fiat will not only cater to an exclusive class of buyers, but will also consolidate its brand in the country. Commenting on the above report, Nagesh Basavanhalli, President and Managing Director, Fiat India said that it is too early to comment.
Maserati is a 100 year old brand and part of Fiat’s portfolio, into which the Ferrari and Alfa Romeo are also included. Fiat Group is eager to enhance its position in India and has brought in an array of products while also planning to expand its portfolio to include non-Fiat branded cars.
India already has expensive cars. Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls Royce, and Porsche all are reporting growth in sales in India. Same is expected from Maserati if launched in India. Maserati currently offers Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans, GranTurismo coupe and the GranCabrio convertible. If launched in India, they will be offered in a price range of INR 1.5 to 3 crores.
