McLaren happy with Mercedes Benz, refutes rumors getting back to Honda for F1 car engine
Mercedes Benz has been providing engine to McLaren F1 for the past 15 year. Rumors about McLaren unhappy with Mercedes Benz and wanting to shift back to Honda for their engine supply started doing rounds around three years ago. The reason for rumors to get some sort of fuel was that Daimler brought in their own team three seasons back which had originally started out as British American Racing, then went on to be known as Honda, before becoming Mercedes GP to finally settle for Mercedes AMG Petronas. Since then McLaren has been quashing rumors that it is looking out for a new supplier.
Earlier today, McLaren unveiled their all new 2012 F1 race car – MP4-27, powered by a Mercedes Benz engine. McLaren is infact very happy with their relationship with McLaren and would like to keep it that way. McLaren plans on continuing relationship with Mercedes Benz even when the V6 arrives in 2014. Many F1 teams will be changing engine suppliers when V6 arrives, but McLaren adds that they will not be one of them.
