McLaren has designed the P1 by putting together knowledge gathered by the brand for past 50 years pertaining to aerodynamics and lightweight carbon fiber materials. The McLaren P1 is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, coupled to a single electric motor with a top speed that’s electronically limited to 350 kmph (217 mph). It sprints from 0-200 kmph within a short span of seven seconds and achieves 300 kmph within 17 seconds. The McLaren P1 is one of the most technologically advanced race car ever built and exudes a great deal of aerodynamics which allow it to retain title of the world’s fastest production race car.
The video released by McLaren Automotive relating to the aerodynamic features of the vehicle is the first one of two videos. It’s titled ‘Designed By Air’ and provides an insight into the aerodynamic quotient of the vehicle. The video showcases airflow that is seen while this can propels itself down the road. Fans will also be treated to an interactive experience for desktop and table users in the next installment which is to be released next month.
McLaren Automotive this year associates with Relais & Châteaux for their annual Dîner des Grands Chefs on 22nd April at Old Billingsgate, London. The initiative is part of this year’s McLaren 50 years celebrations. The British automaker will exhibit 12C and 12C Spider sports cars. McLaren Automotive has also donated a Pure McLaren driving experience in aid of the Action Against Hunger charity. It goes towards tonight’s silent auction of ‘money can’t buy experiences’. The winning bidder will receive driving training from McLaren GT instructors at a motor racing circuit and a full hospitality package.
David Brimson, Regional Director Sales and Marketing – Europe, McLaren Automotive said, “As a luxury British brand, we are delighted to be supporting the Dîner des Grands Chefs during its first visit to London while raising funds towards a highly worthwhile cause. The partnership is an ideal platform to showcase the products engineered by talented individuals who share a passion both for innovation and for creating the very best products in their respective fields, a philosophy seen across our group’s 50-year history.”
