The Mercedes A Class facelift has been launched in India at a starting price of INR 24.95 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). This completes the automaker’s launching spree of 15 cars in the calendar year.
Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year, the updated entry level luxury hatchback carries minor design revisions, equipment upgrades and powertrain tweaks. The major visual enhancement comes in the form of the diamond grille which is now standard across all the variants. A reprofiled bumper and optional LED headlamps complete the changes upfront.
The profile stays intact save for the new alloy wheel design. New detailing for the rear combination lights and a larger diffuser with twin exhausts round off the exterior changes. The hatchback also receives new Elbaite Green exterior color option.
Enhancements on the inside include new instrument console, improved seats and upgraded COMAND display.Inside, the A Class facelift features revised instrument console, new color trims, improved seats, upgraded COMAND infotainment system with Apply CarPlay and MirrorLink support. Customers can also specify the premium hatchback with optional 8-inch centre console display. Mercedes claims that the material quality has been improved.

India-spec model continues to be powered by the same set of engines as the outgoing version but gets new variant nomenclature. The A 180 Sport (petrol) and A 200 d Sport (diesel). The petrol motor is a 1.6-litre unit which generates 122 PS and 200 Nm of torque. The 2.2-litre oil burner is good for 136 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission with four different modes, driving the front wheels.
