Offered in two trims, Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé and Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupé, the first official details and photos of what is tagged as the ‘Sportiest C Class EVER’, has been revealed. To go on sale by March next year, price is not disclosed yet.
Sharing most of the body parts with the already revealed C Class Coupe, the AMG avatar of the same gets aggressive front bumper, AMG grille, and a front splitter. Changes at the rear include new rear bumper, quad AMG branded exhaust, trunk mounted spoiler, and an aluminium powerdrome hood.
On the inside, it gets AMG sports seats with leather upholstery, flat bottomed sporty steering wheel, carbon fiber on the centre dash, and a 7 inch colour screen to control the audio, navigation and car settings.
2016 Mercedes AMG C 63 Coupe SeatsUnder the hood it features a AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine which generates a maximum power of 510 hp at 5500-6250 rpm and 700 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm aboard the C 63 S Coupé. Aboard the standard variant, the same engine delivers 476 hp at 5500-6250 rpm and 650 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm. Mated to AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, 0-100 kmph is achieved in 3.9 seconds by the former, and in 4.0 seconds by the latter. Mileage claimed is 8.9 kmpl, while top speed is 250 kmph, for both variants.
In addition to the powerful engine, and sporty design, the engineers have also re-engineered the suspension system aboard the new C 63. It now features four-link front suspension with radial, racing-style brake connections. This allows the car to handle well under racing conditions and offer greater lateral acceleration. Rear axle too is completely re-designed. With multi link concept, it now offers precise wheel control and increased stiffness.
