AMG GT being successor to Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, will inherit significant amount of exterior characteristics from the latter. These may include gull wing doors, sloping roofline, long nose, short cabin, bigger headlamps with LED DRLs, narrower LED tail lights, and lift back type tailgate.
Interior pictures as revealed by Mercedes shows extensive usage of classic red and black leather in the cabin, taking notes from the S Class. Aluminium and carbon fibre reinforced plastic trims are also seen, which adds to sporty feel inside the luxurious performance car. The AMG GT comes with aviation design theme for interiors, and features 6 climate control air-con vents, 4 of which is placed at centre console.
The second Mercedes-AMG independently developed sports car will fiercely compete with Porsche 911, Lexus RC-F and Jaguar F-Type. A new 4.0 litre V8 twin turbo engine might amp up the competition, mated to a 7 speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission). Weight of AMG-GT would be lighter than SLS AMG by 130 kg, allowing kerb weight of the sports car to be recorded at 1,480 kg.
