Mercedes AMG GT is awaited by many in India to step on the 4.0 litre biturbo V8 power plant that dishes out 462 PS on GT variant and 510 PS on GT S version. With the right foot stuck to the floor, the engine throws a Muhammad Ali punch that launches the car from halt to 100 kmph in under four seconds – both variants. Some persistent legwork will take the GT to one quarter of sonic speed (speed of sound), that is around 310 kmph. Both models, Mercedes AMG GT and GT S, feature 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) and electronic differential.Mercedes-AMG GT uses double wishbone suspension on all four corners, governed by electronically controlled dampers. Other notable features include those on the safety side, like adaptive braking, attention assist, Pre-Safe Brake with full autonomous braking and high-beam assist. There are more facilities like radar guided cruise control, lane-keep assistance and collision prevention, all of which use radar guidance; these won’t be available in Indian model.
The Mercedes SLS AMG replacement that weighs just around 1600 kg (kerb weight) is built with lavish use of aluminium, which also plays major role in performance and agile handling, not to mention the cost. Speaking of which, Mercedes AMG GT and GT S is expected to wear price tag of around Rs. 2.0 crore and Rs. 2.5 crore (ex-showroom) respectively.
