Order books for Mercedes-Benz’s flagship sport scar, AMG GT, is open in the United Kingdom. Price of the SLS AMG replacement starts at £97,195 (Rs. 94.29 lakhs approx.), for the basic 456 bhp variant, and rises all the way up to £122,745 (Rs. 1.18 crores approx.) for the top spec AMG GT Edition 1 model.
First model to be sold in the UK will be Mercedes AMG GT-S, at £110,495 (Rs. 1.06 crores approx.), that comes with the tune of 503 bhp max power. Alongside, AMG GT Edition 1 will also be vended, for price of £122,745 (Rs. 1.18 crores approx.). Both will be delivered to the owners in April 2015. Base trim with 456 bhp engine is also available for order now, but it will hit showrooms only by late 2015.
Inspired by the gullwinged SLS AMG, Mercedes AMG GT fulfils the desire for extreme performance and luxury, of proud MB fans and sports car seekers. AMG GT is not straight forward replacement of SLS AMG, it is more focussed on taking down Jaguar F-Type R and Porsche 911 Turbo.
The 2015 Mercedes supercar is propelled by an all new 4.0 litre V8 turbocharged engine, that enables the performance machine to sprint from 0 – 100 kmph (62 mph) in 4.0 seconds. AMG GT S takes just 3.8 seconds in the same test.
India launch of Mercedes AMG GT is not yet confirmed, but is surely on the cards. Mercedes Benz India has been aggressive with their offering of AMG cars in India which includes – CLA 45 AMG, GLA 45 AMG, E 63 AMG, ML 63 AMG, GL 63 AMG, G 63 AMG, and the now discontinued, SLS AMG. Expected launch of AMG GT in India is in 2015, with a price tag of over Rs 2 crores.
