As the Spanish Grand Prix gets set this weekend, Mercedes AMG Petronas have announced their alliance with Starwood Hotels and Resorts. This agreement was announced by both Nick Fry and Michael Schumacher at the W Hotel in Barcelona. All Mercedes AMG Petronas team members will stay at the Starwood resorts as they travel to Grand prix venues across the globe.
For Starwood, this alliance is a perfect opportunity to showcase themselves on a global level and thereby increase customer awareness. Team Principal Ross Brawn said that he and his team were regularly on the go and having a world class hotel makes a big difference to the trip.
The Spanish Grand Prix is on at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona which has a circuit length of 4.655 kms and a total of 66 laps. The race distance is of 307.104 kms. Circuit de Catalunya was looked upon with boredom. In three races from 2008 to 2010 there were an average of only two passing maneuvers but this underwent a dramatic change in the past year where there were 51 in total. Introduction of Drag Reduction System accounted for 29 of these besides Pirelli’s new rubber also changed the entire scene from boring to scintillating. As the number of overtakes have increased dramatically racing enthusiasts are optimistic of this weekend’s race as well.
