The new Mercedes Benz A Class receives state of the art technology and astonishing array of internal luxury features. Its exteriors are youthful in design while interiors offer the very best of comfort, safety and infotainment so as to capture the attention of a younger and more adventurous section of society. The A Class is also very fuel efficient, offering 16+ kmpl for petrol (1.6L, 122 hp, 200 Nm, top speed 202 kmph) and 20+ kmpl for diesel (2.2L, 109 hp, 250 Nm, top speed 190 kmph).
Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, launched the new A Class in India earlier this week, making it the first car in it’s segment in India. (This is celebrated by them with the No 1 livery model in images here). The new A Class possesses a total of 11 drive assistance features and world class in car infotainment which appeal to this luxury seeking segment of society.
The premium hatchback possesses Electronic Stability Program thus reducing loss of control in the event of emergency braking. It also possesses acceleration skid control, hill start assist, attention assist, electric parking brake, antilock braking system and a total of 7 airbags which ensure that the vehicle is well equipped to tackle Indian road conditions. In India, the A Class A 180 CDI Style will be available at an introductory price of INR 21,93,500 while A 180 Sport will be offered at INR 22,73,500. (ex-showroom, Mumbai)
Apart from these two regular models, Mercedes Benz India will also offer a sport kit for A Class. This includes body decal, red paint (strip) on the front, side and rear, black ORVMs, light sport alloys and red disk brake calipers (this cannot be seen in the actual car that was displayed at the launch, but featured in the powerpoint presentation).
