Mercedes Benz Actros truck has been awarded the title of ‘Truck of the Year’ earlier today at the ‘Trailer 2011′ in Belgium. The jury that selected Mercedes Benz Actros as the ultimate truck this year, consisted of expert from the industry while the people who voted, included A listers of the European truck industry and auto journalists from 24 different countries.
This is not the first time that Mercedes Benz Actros has won Truck of the Year award. Earlier variants of Actros truck too have won this prestigious award respectively in 1997, 2004 and 2009. So this is the fourth time that Mercedes Benz Actros has been awarded Truck of the Year award. In all new Mercedes Benz Actros has won 8 awards.
Mr Hubertus Troska, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said, “We are proud that the ‘Truck Of The Year’ jury has honoured our efforts with this important distinction.” Mr Gianenrico Griffini, President of the jury, on the victory of Actros, said, “With their new flagship, Mercedes-Benz have combined evolutionary elements with revolutionary new developments that raise the bar for efficiency, safety and comfort in a heavy-duty vehicle.”
The main points that were considered while selecting Actros as the Truck of the Year included, how it performed in the fields of comfort, driveability, safety, emissions and economy. Actros collected 161 points, the highest amongst competitors. The second placed truck secured 67 points while 3rd placed truck got 50 points.

Because over 10 years of dedicated effort and a lot of passion, heart and soul on the part of the entire team went into the making of the new Actros. The Actros is set to be our most important truck for the coming years, and this was a great motivation for us at Mercedes-Benz to create a milestone in this sector.” Mr Troska added.
