Mercedes Benz’ YTD lead over BMW stands at 4,695 units in the period January to April 2013 as the two German auto manufacturers vie to be the No. 1 automaker in the US. BMW has held top place for 2 years now.
The period January to April 2013 has seen Mercedes Benz luxury vehicle sales touch 92,822 units, up 11%. When compared, BMW sales stood at 88,127 units in the same period., marking 6.7% YTD increase. Competitor Audi, recorded their 3rd highest monthly sales this April. 13,157 vehicles sold accounted for 14.2% sales increase. Only 2 other months have recorded a higher sales volume for the company, i.e., 14,841 cars in December 2012, and 13,253 units in March 2013.
YTD sales were up 15.5%. This is the 28th month in a row that the company reposrt record sales. 32% YTD sales were contributed by the top-end A8, A7, A6, and Q7. Audi Q5 luxury SUV sales increase for the month stood at 32%. Audi Certified pre-owned sales increase was 14% accounting for 3,257 vehicles sold in April 2013. This marks YTD increase at 6% with 12,311 vehicles sold.
