Mercedes Benz India opens largest luxury car parts warehouse and new training academy

Both outfits were inaugurated by Dr. Till Conrad, Head-Region Overseas, Mercedes-Benz Cars at Daimler AG and Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India earlier today.

Dr. Conrad says the expansion and investment is testimony to the company’s strong customer centric approach and long-term vision. Infrastructure expansion and workforce skill set development are being undertaken to capitalize on future growth of the luxury industry.

Roland Folger says both developments are significant accomplishments for Mercedes-Benz India, and develops a sustainable future for partners and employees.

The 16,500 Sq. Mt parts warehouse can house up to 44,000 Stock Keeping Units (SKU’s). LED lights with motion sensors are fitted for energy. Wi Fi ensures continual connectivity. The warehouse uses a multi-tier shelving system (G + 2 Levels), 10 outbound docks for loading and dispatch, 6 inbound docks for receiving materials, Modern Material Handling Equipment (MHE), Spare Parts Automation (SPAN), and more.

Mercedes-Benz Retail Training division has over time worked through its in-house Mechatronics School, ADAM Course at Government Polytechnic in Pune, Aurangabad and Government Engineering College Trivandrum, developed training content and a virtual learning platform for Global Training of Daimler AG. The newly inaugurated Mercedes-Benz Academy will focus on knowledge cultivation and support retail manpower growth.

Mercedes-Benz Academy is equipped to train 225 participants per day. Learning will happen at its Combi-bays, classrooms, aggregate room and an eLab.

The Vehicle preparation Centre caters to vehicle storing requirement till 2024 and is prepared to deliver ‘Zero Defect Customized Vehicles with Customer Delight’. Here, vehicles are stored, maintained and prepared for dealer dispatches. The VPC operates out of 5 floors and has stocking capacity of 5,700 units. Located in the production facility premise it was created in 13 months at an investment of Rs 15 million.
