Mercedes Benz India replaced Audi India as the largest luxury car manufacturer in the country recently. In order to continue with the aggressive growth, Mercedes Benz India has planned to launch to launch 12 new cars this year. As part of this new strategy, the new 2016 Mercedes Benz E-Class Edition E executive sedan will be launched on February 24th, 2016.
Celebrating the success of E-Class in India, and also commemorating the completion of Mercedes Benz’ 20 years in India, the new E-Class Edition E will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Chakan near Pune.
Not to be confused with the new generation E Class, which made global debut at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show in January this year, the Edition E variant of E-Class is based on the existing E-Class on sale in India. This E-Class is the MY16 variant which was launched back in June 2015 in India.
Edition E will get With added features and updates as compared to its existing model. It is expected to be offered on both E200 and E250 CDI variant. Mercedes Benz E200 in India is powered by a 2.0-liter petrol engine generating 182 PS power and 300 Nm torque, while the E250 CDI is powered by a 2.1-liter diesel engine generating 204 PS power and 500 Nm torque. Both engines are mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
Already launched in Malaysia last year, where the Mercedes Benz E-Class Edition E E200 and E250 CDI comes with 18 inches larger alloys, larger front discs, Mercedes-Benz lettering on the brake callipers, illuminated three-pointed star on the front grille, Edition E emblem on the outside and inside, AMG-inspired front and rear bumper with dual exhaust tip finishers, side skirts, AMG-inspired steering wheel, and much more.
