Mercedes Benz India reveals line-up for 2016 Delhi Auto Expo

Based on the C-Class platform, Mercedes Benz GLC SUV will sport a number of on board luxuries with a new single piece central console, rotary air vents and hooded instrument panel. It will get a touch pad with the latest of COMAND Online infotainment system.

Engine lineup in India could include petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel engine will be a 2.1 liter four cylinder engine in two sets of tunes, the 220d with 168 bhp and 250d with 201 bhp. The GLC350 also gets a 3.0 liter V6 petrol engine which could be introduced later. Set for sales in mid 2016, pricing of the Mercedes Benz GLC SUV could be around INR 50 lakh.

Mercedes Benz S-Class Cabriolet will also be in attendance at the 2016 Auto Expo where it will be seen in similar design to the coupe model. Measuring 5,027 in length and 1,899 in width, the Cabrio will be a soft top convertible version with its soft top extended or folded in a matter of 20 seconds at speeds of 60 kmph.

Mercedes Benz S600 Guard, the armoured version of the S-Class saloon displays the highest level of ballistic protection – VR9. The first of the company cars to be certified this level, modifications will include reinforced body shell, double pated welds and toughened and thickened glass which will contribute to a significant weight increase over the standard S600.

Mercedes Benz India has posted a 32% growth in sales for 2015, and become the largest luxury car maker in the country. Not resting on their laurels, the company has extensive plans to continue the growth momentum into 2016 as well. This year they plan to launch 12 new cars in India, with GLE 450 AMG Coupe already launched this year at INR 86.4 lakh.
