Mercedes Benz X Class Pickup debuts at 2017 Geneva Motor Show
Mercedes Benz X Class Pickup will be a part of the Mercedes-Benz Vans lineup to make their way into markets by late 2017.
Mercedes Benz showcased two mid-size luxury pickup concepts at the Artipelag art museum in Stockholm, Sweden in October last year. This was introduced in two formats, Concept X-Class ‘Stylish Explorer’ is seen in a pearly white while ‘Powerful Adventurer’ receives a pea green exterior.
Stylish Explorer and Powerful Adventurer are both distinctive in character. While Stylish Explorer offers a premium and sporty experience, Powerful Adventurer is a hardcore off-roader. Of the two, the Stylish Explorer made its motor show debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show today.
X-Class Stylish Explorer is seen as a regular double cab model with sporty bumpers and distinctive 22” alloy wheels. Powerful Adventurer gets high ground clearance, extra body cladding and wide wheel arches along with off-road wheels and tyres.
Huge headlights and massive grilles are evident at the front of both concepts, while at the rear wraparound LED lamps are seen on Stylish Explorer while Powerful Adventurer gets a two light set up. Both concepts are based on the Nissan Navara chassis. Interiors spell of distinctive Mercedes-Benz designs seen in its gauges and air vents along with dashboard design while both concepts sport stick style gearshifts.
Mercedes Benz X Class Pickup concepts will be powered four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The automaker claims it will have payload rating of 2,425 points and towing capacity of 7,717 pounds. Mercedes Benz is investing $1 billion into this project with production planned with Renault Nissan Alliance.
Production for Europe, Australia and South Africa markets will be conducted at Nissan plant in Barcelona in 2017 while for Latin American markets production will be undertaken at Renault plant in Cordoba, Argentina in 2018.
