Ahead of the festive Diwali season, Mercedes Benz India has announced the launch of a sporty edition of their entry level sedan – the CLA Class. Called 2018 Mercedes CLA Urban Sport, the luxury car is on offer with petrol and diesel engine option.
Petrol variant of the CLA Urban Sport is powered by a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine delivering 184 PS and 300 Nm. It is mated via 7 speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the front wheels. The petrol variant is priced at Rs 36 lakhs, ex-showroom.
Speaking about the diesel variant, CLA Urban Sport 200d is powered by a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine which delivers 135 PS and 300 Nm. It is also mated to a 7 speed auto box which sends power to its front wheels. Price of the diesel CLA Urban Sport is Rs 37 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom, India.
Both cars are based on the CLA Sport petrol and diesel variant which are priced at Rs 34.19 lakhs and Rs 35.18 lakhs respectively. Engine and performance figures too are same. Petrol variant does 0-100 kmph in 7.1s, diesel variant does it in 9s. Petrol top speed is 240 kmph, diesel is 220 kmph. So why is the Urban Sport CLA priced higher?
Well, because it comes with added features. Mercedes Benz India says that the Urban Sport comes with New Exterior Paint of Cosmos Black, Sport badge on Floor Mats, ‘Sport’ Illuminated door sills, ‘Sport’ badge and Rear Spoiler Carbon Style. It also gets ThermoTronic auto climate control system where Temperature, airflow and air distribution are controlled automatically. It also gets Rear centre vents for improved climate comfort in the rear.
