New-gen Mercedes E Class makes Indonesian debut – 2016 GIIAS

After being shown at Detroit Auto Show and Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, 2017 Mercedes Benz E Class has made its debut in Indonesia at the ongoing 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The new-gen luxury sedan is distinctively new, but is easily familiar with the new generation C and S Class.

The new 2017 Mercedes Benz E Class is based on the MRA (Modular Rear-wheel drive Architecture) seen on C Class and S Class models. Measuring a good 43 mm longer than its predecessor (wheelbase is 65 mm longer), flowing design lines account for drag coefficient of 0.23.

?2017 E Class is currently available in a range of petrol and diesel engine options. E 200 is powered by w 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor which returns 184 PS and 300 Nm of torque. E 220 D is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine and returns 195 PS and 400 Nm. E 350d with 258 PS 3.0-litre V6 diesel and 279 PS (combined) E 350 e petrol hybrid model with 2.0-litre engine + electric motor are awaited.

All variants are mated to a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox transmission. The sedan is offered with 4MATIC all-wheel drive system depending on the market its being sold in.

Standard features include LED headlights, 12.3-inch infotainment display, ambient lighting with 64 color options, touch sensitive media buttons on the steering wheel, Burmester sound system, Attention Assist, Drive Pilot, Active Brake Assist with Cross Traffic Alert, Remote Parking Pilot, Pre-Safe, and Car-to-X communication. Optional Direct Control with selective damping and Air Body Control suspension system is on offer.
