After launching Maybach EQS 680 SUV, Mercedes-Benz is bringing the more affordable EQS 450 SUV in India. However, this is assembled in India, attracting less taxes and is an India-specific 5-seater model that none of the global markets currently gets. At Rs XX Cr (Ex-sh), this affordable non-Maybach variant is likely to expand Merc’s presence in luxury SUV space.
Mercedes EQS 450 SUV
With the launch of EQS 450 SUV at Rs 1.28 Cr (Ex-sh), Mercedes-Benz has significantly brought down the price of this flagship electric SUV. The main reason for this attractive pricing is because of the fact that is locally assembled at company’s Chakan facility via CKD route, attracting significantly fewer taxes.
Also, this particular 5-seater Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 SUV is India-specific only and is quite special. It acts as an entry-level model of Merc’s EQS SUV family. We already had Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS 680 SUV launched in India for Rs 2.25 Cr (Ex-sh) and EQS 580 SUV at Rs 1.43 Cr (Ex-sh) with a flexible and versatile 7-seater layout.
Where dimensions are concerned, EQS 450 SUV 5-seater measures 5,125 mm long, 1,959 mm wide, 1,718 mm tall and has a 3,210 mm long wheelbase. Where design is concerned, it adheres to the aerodynamic and swoopy EQS design language, similar to EQS 580 SUV.
There are angular LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs that follow a triple-slat setup, as it is an S-tier product. An LED light bar connects both headlights and signifies the vehicle’s width. EQS 450 SUV gets a large closed-off grill at the front finished in a gloss-black effect with a large Mercedes Three-Pointed Star logo.
Opulent Interiors
Large alloy wheels, flush door handles, subtle rear spoiler and striking connected LED tail lights along with Silver elements on rear bumper are notable elements. Overall, there are very few exterior design differences between the already-launched EQS 580 SUV and the just-launched EQS 450 SUV. Charging port is still at the rear right fender.
On the inside, the main standout feature is the 56-inch Hyperscreen that integrates three different screens in one panel. There’s a premium Burmester sound system for exceptional audio quality. Multi zone climate control, 360-degree camera, soft-close doors, illuminated door sills, puddle lamps, Level 2 ADAS, 9 airbags, Energising Air Control Plus and more.
The 122 kWh battery pack on Mercedes EQS 450 SUV promises a range of 820 km on a single charge.?? There are two electric motors with a peak total system output of 537 bhp and 858 Nm, capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. 10-80% SOC charging time is rated at 31 minutes with a 200 kW DC charger.
