Mercedes Benz India has already confirmed that their new A Class will be launched in India soon. But before that, this small luxury car is breaking records in the European car market. The new A Class hatchback has received immediate success with over 90,000 bookings, far surpassing the 2013 best seller Volkswagen Golf, which received 40,000 bookings since its launch ahead of the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
Mercedes Benz A Class sports hatchback is the least priced Mercedes Benz car today and is tagged as an affordable luxury. It is poised to be one of the largest selling cars across the globe and comes with a host of luxury and safety features. The A Class is available both with a turbo petrol and turbo diesel engine, mated to either six speed manual or 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox, depending on variant while an AMG version is expected to make its entry into global markets in 2013.
Mercedes Benz will also be assembling A Class hatchback in India through a completely knocked down kit from 2013, with its entry level model coming in at an estimated price of Rs.20 lakhs for the base petrol version. The affordable pricing is due to the A Class being a front wheel drive system while the vehicle also projects lower weight and higher fuel economy. In India, Mercedes Benz A Class will compete with both Audi and BMW specially with BMW planning on launching its 1 Series hatchback by end of 2013 and Audi to bring in their A3 sedan by early 2014.
