New Mercedes S-Class facelift launched in India – Price Rs 1.33 crore

Mercedes Benz S-Class facelift has been launched in India at Rs 1.33 crore for the diesel variant and Rs 1.37 crore for petrol variant. All prices are ex-showroom. True to its antecedents, the new S-Class shows off the very best in luxury, intelligence and driver assistance systems and a long list of comfort and safety features which are among the best in its class.

External upgrades on the new S-Class include refreshed bumpers, new crease lines and curves and a new set of alloy wheels. It gets a new radiator with three twin louvers and vertical bars done up in high gloss, sporty new air intakes and MULTIBEAM LED headlamps. At the rear, a new bumper design is noted along with tailpipe trims and new LED tail lamps. Come home function are also among its outstanding rear end features. A notable feature on the new S-Class will be 18”, 5 spoke light alloy wheels that will be making their debut on this model.

Mercedes S-Class gets an advanced Panoramic sliding sunroof. It also receives two electric roller sunblinds thus protecting its occupants from the harsh rays of the sun. Comfortable seating with premium upholstery will also receive 6 exclusive fragrance function and heated and massaging options. Interiors are also noted with a multi function steering wheel with touch control buttons, ambient lighting, a 12.3” touchscreen unit, wooden inserts and smartphone integration system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and ambient lighting with 64 color options. There is also provision for wireless mobile charging at the front and rear and a Burmester surround system with 13 speakers and 9 channel DSP amplifiers offering 590W output

Safety features abound on the new Mercedes S-Class among which are radar based technology, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Active Braking Assist, Blind Spot Assist and a special STAR Ease package that starts at INR 80,000 for the S 450.

New Mercedes S-Class is offered with a diesel as well as a petrol engine. Diesel engine is the new OM 656 engine, which can also run on BS4 as well as BS6. The inline 6 cylinder 3.0L diesel motor delivers 282 bhp power and 600 Nm torque. Petrol engine is in the form of a 3.0 liter V6 motor which delivers 367 hp and 400 Nm.

Mercedes S-Class will enter production at the company’s facility in Chakan near Pune and it will compete against the likes of BMW 7 Series, Jaguar XJ L, Audi A8 and Lexus LS.
