Bus building company, MG Group unveiled its first special application coach tarmac coach, ‘Columbus’ at Busworld India 2016 held in Bengaluru on Thursday. This bus is the first of its kind in the country and is a 12-meter long coach set to accommodate a total of 70 passengers, 8 seated and 62 standees. It has a Monocoque ultra low flat floor tarmac with low passenger entry at 290 mm.
Fitted with the latest in technology and complying with Airport Handling Manual regulations, the ‘Columbus’ is a part of the Indian Government’s ‘Make in India’ policy. Columbus receives a well-designed interior suited for swift passenger entry and exit with 5 passenger doors of which three are on the left-hand side and two are on the right. Interiors are lit by LED lights to meet global standards while technology includes ECAS, ABS and CAN bus systems.
MG Group has also launched its Flagship Premium Luxury Coach – ‘Mammoth’ especially for the Indian markets. This coach was on display at Busworld 2015 and till date, was being produced exclusively for international markets. ‘Mammoth’ for domestic markets is of both seater and sleeper variants. It will be offered in four variants in India all priced between INR 60-65 lakhs.
MG World with two plants located at Zaheerabad, Telangana and Belgavi in Karnataka has capacity of 16,500 buses per annum. This year, MG Group achieved a major milestone with 1,00,000 buses produced since inception in its 20th year.
