The MG Hector, launched in India on 27th June 2019, has received overwhelming response from buyers in the country. Orders touched 28,000 units, in about 22 days post launch. The Hector is sold out for the ongoing calendar year.
MG Motors now plans to ramp up production from a current 2,000 units a month to around 3,000 units by September so as to complete pending orders and re-open bookings for 2020 delivery.
MG Hector, which challenges the likes of the Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos, is definitely a car ‘Worth Waiting For’. It is for this reason that the company has introduced this innovative scheme under which customers can avail reward points.
For each week that the customer waits for delivery, they can gain 1,000 points. These points can be exchanged for free accessories at any of the company dealerships in India. MG Hector comes with a list of 69 official accessories.
MG Hector is assembled at the company plant in Halol, Gujarat which has production capacity of 84,000 units per annum. It is offered in petrol and diesel engine variants and priced from Rs.12.18 lakhs for the base petrol model going up to Rs.16.88 lakhs for the top of the line diesel variant. The Hector is offered in Style, Super, Smart and Sharp variants, with the Smart and Sharp trims being the most popular with the highest demand.
Loaded with features, the spacious family car, MG Hector gets i-SMART connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, tyre pressure monitoring system and all LED lighting. Engine specifications include a 1.5 liter turbo petrol engine offering 143 PS power and 250 Nm torque.
The 2.0 liter diesel engine offers 170 PS power and 350 Nm torque. Both these power trains are BSIV compliant as on date but the engine will soon meet BS VI emission norms prior to the deadline of 1st April 2020.
Following the successful launch of the MG Hector, MG Motor India also plans to introduce new models in the months ahead. The new all electric eZS SUV is poised for launch by December 2019 while the 7 seater Hector will launch sometime in early 2020.
