MG Hector India debut on 15th May – Bookings open soon after

MG Hector, the first vehicle from Morris Garages, is set for launch in India in next month. Ahead of that, public debut of the car is set for 15th May 2019. It is from this date, that dealer network will be revealed, and bookings will also open officially.

The MG Hector SUV is said to be the largest car in its class. It will measure 4,655mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760mm in height. It will sit on large 10 spoke, two tone alloy wheels and get high ground clearance.

Recently, MG Motor India had invited their dealer parters to the company plant in Halol, near Vadodara. After taking a tour of the plant, the dealer partners got to test drive the Hector from Halol plant to WelcomHotel in Vadodara. Below is a short video of the Hector SUVs from that drive event.

As seen in the video above, MG Hector exteriors will feature a large blacked out front grille with chrome surrounds dominated by the MG logo in center, a chrome finished headlamp cluster, front bumper, distinctive wheel arches, large ORVMs with integrated turn signals, a floating roof design with roof rails and twin LED tail lamps. The MG Hector also receives a faux diffuser and a triangular exhaust tip.

Its premium cabin is done up in a beige and grey color scheme. It will get power adjustable seats, a panoramic sunroof, 360 degree parking camera, automatic climate control and a colour MID. It will also get a large 10.4” touchscreen display and will get iSmart connectivity with advanced technology, built-in apps, artificial intelligence, smart features and voice assist, etc.

The Voice Assist system can be accessed by saying ‘Hello MG’, and is capable of handling over 100 functions (like open sunroof, close sunroof, etc). This system has been developed in collaboration with technological partners such as Cisco, Unlimit, and Microsoft among others. The new Hector will come in with pre loaded apps such as TomTom IQ Maps, Gaana Premium and AccuWeather app. MG Motor India will offer customer free data for first few years which will be secured by Microsoft, the Cloud provider for MG Motor.

MG Hector will be powered by petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder petrol engine will offer 143 PS power and 250 Nm torque. The same petrol engine will also be offered with mild hybrid system, while the 2.0 liter Fiat Multijet diesel engine will be capable of 173 PS power and 350 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual. Upon launch in India, the new MG Hector will face competition from Hyundai Creta (top variants), Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, etc.
