Launched on 27th June, deliveries of MG Hector are in full swing across multiple cities in India. MG Motor has already received over 13,000 bookings for the car from across India, which has pushed the waiting period of Hector to more than 7 months in some cases. Certainly, MG India was not prepared for such huge demand. They have production capacity of only 2,000 units a month, which is why waiting period is soaring with each passing day.
MG India is doing their best to deliver the Hector to their respective owners at the earliest. Recently, a Kerala dealer of MG India, delivered more than 30 units of Hector in a single day. This is a new record for a car which is sold in this segment.
Never before a car in this segment has amassed such huge booking numbers in such a short period of time. Multiple dealers have registered over 500 bookings of Hector, especially those located in major cities.
MG Hector is the country’s first Internet Car. It is offered with petrol, petrol hybrid and diesel engine options with both manual and DCT transmissions. The Hector priced between Rs.12.18 lakhs to Rs.16.88 lakhs. This mid-sized SUV is not only aggressively priced but also comes in with industry first warranty of 5 years and unlimited kilometers as well as 5 years free labour service. It also gets free medical backup, maintenance plan, roadside assistance, etc.
The MG Hector, in four variants of Style, Super, Smart and Sharp, sits on 17 inch alloy wheels. It gets large ORVMs with integrated turn signals, 360 degree camera, a panoramic sunroof while the interiors boast of a 10.4” iSmart touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with AI voice assist and pre loaded apps along with an Airtel eSIM card.
The MG Hector abounds in safety features. It gets four way power adjustable driver seat, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, 2-6 airbags depending on variant, ABS, EBD and ESP along with rear parking sensors, disc brakes on all four wheels and traction control.
Where dimensions are concerned, the MG Hector is the largest in its class. It measures 4,655mm in length, 1,835mm in width, 1,760mm in height with a 2,750mm long wheelbase and ground clearance of 192mm. It gets powered via 4 engine and gearbox combinations. The 1.5 liter turbocharged petrol engine offers 143 PS power and 250 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual and DCT transmission.
The Fiat sourced 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine delivers 170 PS power and 350 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox. There is also a 48V mild hybrid engine that pairs up with the 1.5 liter petrol engine to offer an added 20 Nm torque. The MG Hector is also capable of best in class fuel efficiency with is rated at 15.81 kmpl for the petrol hybrid engine and at 17.41 kmpl for its diesel engine.
