Morris Garages India gears up for the launch of its ZS EV later this month. This fully electric SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Kona EV and Tata Nexon EV. In view of this upcoming launch, MG Motors has set up 10 DC fast charging stations at select company dealerships across the country.
There are multiple ways of charging the MG ZS electric vehicle. There will be a 7.4 kW AC fast charger installed in the home, office or any desired place of the customer which would take around 6-8 hours for a complete recharge.
The electric SUV could also be charged via a 2.4 kW AC wall charger in 16-18 hours while the 50 kW DC fast charger which has been installed at company dealerships will charge the MG ZS EV upto 80 percent in a matter of 50 minutes.
These 10 new fast charging stations which have been set up at select dealerships at Gurugram, Noida, Thane, Mumbai West, Bangalore ECR, Bangalore ORR, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lajpat Nagar and Delhi West can be availed 24×7. MG ZS EV users will be able to charge their vehicles at these dealerships which will provide charge-on-the-go facilities along with RSA – road side assistance. The fast chargers are being set up by MG Motors in association with Fortem.
The MG ZS electric SUV will go on sale from January 17, 2020 essentially in these areas prior to being sold across the country. Bookings have already commenced and special pricing is being offered to the first 1,000 customers.
The 5 seater MG ZS EV is expected to be priced from Rs.20 lakhs. It will be presented in two trims of Exclusive and Excite and will be produced at the company’s manufacturing facility at Halol, Gujarat. The new ZS SUV will be powered by a 44.5 kWh liquid cooled lithium ion battery claiming a range of 340 km. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is pegged at 8.5 seconds.
The battery boasts of a sophisticated management system with an IP-67 rating which means it is water resistant upto 1 meter. The EV gets three driving modes of Normal, Sport and Eco. The MG ZS comes in with an eShield ownership package that includes free of cost 5 year manufacturer’s warranty for unlimited kms, 8 years / 1.50 lakh km warranty on the battery and 5 year RSA. The company also claims that running cost of the ZS EV will be approximately Re. 1 per km.
