While it can be described as a heavy facelift of the Gloster, the MG Majestor will be positioned as the brand’s new flagship in India

MG had showcased the Majestor SUV concept at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. Only the exteriors were showcased, as interiors were hidden behind blacked out windows. Since then, test mules have been spotted multiple times. MG has now announced that the production-spec unveil is scheduled for 12th February 2026. MG Majestor will take on rivals such as Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq. Let’s check out the details.

MG Majestor market positioning

According to MG, the Majestor will be India’s first D+ SUV. It will be positioned as a more premium product in comparison to the Gloster. It is important to note that Gloster will continue to be on sale alongside the Majestor. While both SUVs share the same ladder-frame chassis, the Majestor is expected to be more spacious. It is also likely to get a higher number of premium features.

With the Majestor, the brand can achieve a more level playing field against the higher trims of the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq. Majestor could be offered at a competitive price point, starting at around Rs 45-46 lakh. While there are multiple rivals, the primary volume generator in the full-size SUV segment in India is currently Toyota Fortuner.

This presents a good opportunity, considering that users could be looking for new options in this space. For context, the Fortuner and Ford Endeavour were neck and neck when the latter was available for sale in India. Majestor could be looking to achieve similar or even better results.

Rugged profile, premium features

It is possible that MG Majestor could be larger in size in comparison to the Gloster. This could ensure an airier and more comfortable feel and potentially a larger boot space. Majestor has a rugged profile, which ensures a strong road presence. Key features include a large slatted grille, vertically-stacked headlamps and top-mounted sharp LED DRLs.

Side profile features a distinctive door trim, running boards, conventional door handles, blacked-out pillars and large 19-inch dual tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the SUV has 3D-style tail lamps in connected format, dual exhausts and a rugged bumper design.

Inside, MG Majestor could get features such as a dual screen setup, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless smartphone charger, premium audio system and automatic AC. A panoramic sunroof could also be part of the equipment list. Majestor could be offered in both 6-seater and 7-seater formats. Safety kit is expected to include electronic stability control (ESC), multiple airbags, a 360° camera and a comprehensive range of ADAS Level 2 features.

Powertrain options

While powertrain options have not been confirmed for the Majestor, it is likely that the SUV will be using the options currently available with the Gloster. The 2.0-litre diesel engine generates 161 PS and 373 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a RWD drivetrain.

The 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel unit generates 216 PS and 478 Nm. It is paired with a 4WD drivetrain. Both engines come with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Majestor could get some new features, which could make it a better off-roader in comparison to rivals.
