With its immense size and road presence, MG Majestor is looking forward to lock horns with Toyota Fortuner starting from February 12th, when it will be launched. One of the key highlights of MG Majestor over Gloster is its improved off-roading capabilities as it now packs three locking differentials.

Ahead of its launch next month, MG Majestor has been spied testing in off-road trails of Coorg in Karnataka. At its off-road testing facilities, MG Majestor has been spied, thanks to automotive enthusiast Rakshith Nanaiah and the location Orbit Adventure, Coorg for the spy shots.

India’s large SUV segment has had stalwarts like in the past like Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4. Now, the contenders tasked to take on Toyota Fortuner is primarily MG Gloster. Now, JSW MG Motor India is set to launch a new rival to Fortuner in the form of Majestor, which was revealed at 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo.

While Majestor carries forward similar side profile as Gloster, we can see completely redesigned front and rear to establish its unique identity beside Gloster. At the front we now get a new fascia with a larger and more imposing grille. This is flanked by vertically arranged LED headlight setup and new LED DRLs above them.

There are second set of LED DRLs that are vertically arranged seen flanking the large grille. Majestor gets fair dose of body cladding which gives it that rugged appeal. Bonnet is set high and is further accentuated by muscular creases. Wheels look like they are 19-inchers and tyres might be around 255-section.

Some of the camouflage elements read “India’s first D+ SUV”, which could be one of its marketing highlights. Rear gets new LED tail lights and are connected with a light bar. There are twin exhaust tips on the new rear bumper along with a chunky MAJESTOR lettering, making it hard to confuse with anything else.

More off-roading prowess

Interior is mostly a nip and tuck job with refreshed infotainment and instrument screens. The most notable change on the inside was three locking differentials, seen only in more expensive hardcore off-roaders. As opposed to one locking differential seen on Gloster and on Fortuner, MG Majestor could prove to be a better off-roader.

Powering this vehicle is likely to be the same 2.0L 4-cylinder Twin Turbo Diesel engine that is capable of churning out around 220 PS of peak power and up to 480 Nm of peak torque, mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox along with a 4X4 transfer case to multiply the torque further for that all-important low-end grunt.
