MG Motor SUV interiors leaked for the first time – Looks like Volvo XC90

MG Motor India’s first SUV has been seen on test and the first thing that draws ones attention is it size. The new SUV is much larger and a more premium offering and strikingly similar to the Baojun 530 sold in global markets.

This new SUV to be launched by MG Motor as their first product in India, will be introduced in a 5 seater format by Q2 2019. Set to appeal to a younger and more adventurous set of buyers in the country, the SUV will boast of LED head and tail lamps with LED turn indicators.

Top variant with touchscreen and dual tone interiors.

Its interiors has been spied for the first time. The top variant will get touchscreen infotainment system like seen on Volvo XC SUVs, while the entry level variant will get a 2 DIN system without any touchscreen. Top variant gets dual tone black and brown interiors, while entry level variant gets all black interiors.

It also receives a panoramic sunroof, leather seating and safety features among which will be electronic park brake, power seats and cruise control among others.

The new MG Motor SUV is expected to be powered an FCA sourced 2.0 liter diesel engine mated to an automatic gearbox. This is the same engine which will is being used by Jeep Compass in India, and very soon by the Tata Harrier. Petrol engine is also going to be on offer. It could be a 1.5 liter turbocharged petrol engine offering 168 hp power and 250 Nm torque mated to a 7 speed automatic transmission.

With launch date set for Q2 2019, production will be undertaken from the company’s Halol plant, which was taken over from General Motors in September 2017. MG Motor plans high level of localization so as to offer their first product with an attractive price tag.
