MG ZS electric SUV bookings open at Rs 50k – Official Brochure

MG ZS electric SUV India launch

After launching the Hector earlier this year, MG Motor India is now getting ready to launch their second car in India. Though launch is scheduled next month, MG ZS electric SUV has officially been unveiled in India. Two variants are on offer – Excite and Exclusive.

Bookings too have officially opened, at select dealerships. Unlike Hector, which is on offer at the entire dealer network of MG in India; the ZS EV is only on offer in 5 Indian cities. These are Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. MG will launch the ZS electric in other Indian cities, but at a later date.

Booking amount is set at Rs 50,000. In case you do not want to go to the dealership to book, you can also book the car online, at the official website – mgmotor.co.in. Price will be released next month, but MG has stated that for the first 1,000 customers, the ZS EV will be available at a special, introductory price.

MG ZS electric SUV India - specs

Each MG ZS EV to be sold in India will come with a cable, which will allow the owner to charge the car via any 15 amp outlet. It will come with best in class warranty of 5 years and unlimited warranty. Battery warranty is 8 years / 1.5 lakh kms.

It will come in powered by a 44.5 kWh water cooled battery with rapid charging. The battery will be capable of DC fast charge upto 80 percent in a matter of 50 minutes while with regular AC charger, full charge can be achieved in 6-8 hours. Three driving modes are on offer – Eco, Drive and Sport.

MG ZS gets astral themed chrome grille with a charging socket. It also receives projector headlamps, LED DRLs, faux silver coloured skid plates at the front and rear and LED tail lamps. It sits on alloy wheels and gets distinctive body cladding.

Interiors are seen with premium fittings with leather seats, an 8” touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and iSMART with technology allowing for real time vehicle tracking, emergency calling, voice assistant and remote vehicle control. It also offers geo fencing, weather and traffic updates along with navigation and vehicle diagnostics.

The MG eZS electric vehicle is being produced at the company plant in Halol in Gujarat. The eZS all electric SUV will launch in India at an expected price between Rs.18-20 lakhs, where its only rival will be the Hyundai Kona Electric. It could also rival with the Tata Nexon electric, which is also going to be launched in Jan 2020 – at an expected price tag of Rs 18 lakhs.
