2014 Mini is loaded with contemporary features and technology that makes the hatchback all the more sought-after. In conjunction with enhanced exterior and larger interior, not to mention the first ever 5-door variant, 2014 Mini will gather lot of takers in the Indian market.
Overall length of new Mini is 3,982mm, which is 161mm longer than preceding model. Width is measured to be 1,727mm, and height is 1,425mm (11mm up). Wheelbase of Mini 5-door is extended by 72mm to 2,567mm, which enabled three seats to be accommodated in the rear. Further, 15 mm added headroom and 61 mm extra interior width at elbow height were achieved. As compared to 3-door variant, luggage bay space is augmented by 67 litres to 278 litres. Rear seat gets 60:40 split facility. Prominent styling elements include chrome surrounds for headlamps, hexagonal radiator grille, and tail lights; and black bordering for entire body.
Features in 2014 Mini Cooper include optional Mini driving modes (MID, Sport, Green) that are switchable by a rotary switch, new instrument cluster displaying vehicle status details among customary info, 6.5 inch TFT display as standard fitment with optional 8.8 inch screen (for multimedia, navigation, telephone and vehicle functions), and engine start/stop toggle switch. Safety features in 2014 Mini are front and side curtain airbags, 3-point automatic seat belts, seat belt tensioners and seat belt force limiters (for front occupants), twin ISOFIX children seat provisions, and tyre pressure control.
Driver assistance systems in 2014 Mini Cooper include Parking Assistant, Head-Up-Display, Driving Assistant through camera-based active cruise control, pedestrian and collision warning with initial brake function, road sign detection and high beam assistant.
