Rushlane.com has learnt that BMW India is gearing up to launch Mini Countryman facelift in a week or two and hence has suspended the local assembly of the existing variant at its Chennai plant.
We have also learnt that since it takes longer time to source CKD kits of a new model than CBU units, the automaker has elected to import facelifted Countryman to India as CBUs for the time being rather than continuing to sell locally assembled older model. CKD kits of refreshed compact lifestyle crossover is expected to be allotted to BMW India a few months down the line.
2015 Countryman gets minor styling revisions like a tweaked front grille, new LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights and new alloy wheels. The car is now available in three new exterior color options.
Inside, improvements come in the form of new Mini infotainment system and chrome treatment of certain switches. Rest of the package has been carried forward without much changes.
Mechanically, the existing powertrains have been tweaked to comply with Euro-6 emission norms. We expect the current Indian variant lineup to be retained. Expect BMW India to increase price of 2015 Mini Countryman as it will be sold as a CBU, and not CKD.
