MINI, MINI Convertible, and Mini Countryman launched in India at Delhi Auto Show: Starting price of Rs. 24.9 lakhs

BMW Group has been as eager as the rest of the auto world to showcase their new models at the Delhi Auto Show 2012.  Visitors should head to hall No. 9 where BMW India will be showcasing MINI and their new BMW Vision ConnectedDrive concept while one will also get to see BMW M5 and a limited edition of BMW Individual 7 series, which has been inspired by Steinway & Sons The     limited edition car will be the center of attraction at the venue.

Dr. Kay Segler, Senior Vice President of MINI Business Coordination and Brand Management will be briefing media present at the venue as will Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President of BMW India.  They will be talking of BMW and MINI launches in India.  The MINI pavilion will be mini in name and not in size as it displays the MINI, MINI Convertible and MINI Countryman which are sure to attract the attention of a host of visitors.

The iconic Mini brand in India introduces four models. The Mini Cooper has been launched at a price of .Rs 24.9 lakh, and the Mini Cooper S comes with a price tag of Rs 27.9 lakh. The Mini Convertible is priced at Rs 29.99 lakh, and the Mini Cooper S Countryman bears a price tag of Rs 31.99 lakh.

Besides the MINI collection, BMW will also be showcasing 3 Series and 3 Series Convertibles besides their 5 Series and 6 Series Coupe, 6 Series Convertible, X1, X3 and X5.  Media, visitors and guests will be enthralled at the array of beauties on display and will have to await further details as to prices and launch dates. Previously, BMW had contemplated getting the MINI to India in 2009 but plans were postponed. MINI showrooms will be opened in Delhi and Mumbai to begin with, Deutsche Motoren and Bird Automotive in Delhi (National Capital Region) and Infinity Cars in Mumbai.

The MINI will not be assembled in India and is being bought in as a completely built unit, which entails a 110% import tax duty. MINI has had to deal with similar conditions even in auto markets of China, Korea, Mexico, and Brazil. The company is not looking at volumes from the MINI to begin with but is keen on brand building. Bookings for the Mini in India have commenced, and deliveries would begin by March 2011.
