85th Geneva International Motor Show, scheduled from 5th to 15th March 2015 will see Mitsubishi Motors Corporation unveil their new Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II.
Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II is a compact SUV that receives a new plug in hybrid system. It is the company’s second PHEV offering after the Outlander PHEV which was launched in the UK in April 2014. Slated to go on sale in Europe from this summer, Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II is lightweight and compact while its front engine, front wheel drive PHEV system which comprises of a petrol engine, 120 kW electric motor and a power drive unit. These in unison claims low CO2 emissions of below 40 g/km. The XR-PHEV II system also claims fuel consumption of 1.7 liters per 100km or 58.8 kmpl.
This new PHEV system on board Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II is designed to work on all electric mode. Depending on driving conditions and battery charge available, the system can automatically switch between all electric and parallel hybrid modes. Drivers can also select Battery Save or Battery Charge mode which enhances power and performance while at the same time delivering a smoother ride and quieter interiors devoid of transmission shift shock.
Sporting a muscular body and enhanced rear fenders, the Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II measures 4,490mm in length, 1890mm in width and 1620mm in height while it sits on a wheelbase measuring 2670mm. It sports a fully functional cockpit with all controls on its central console and steering wheel while cabin features aluminum frame with black and silver accents.
More details will be revealed at its debut next week. Along with the XR PHEV II, Mitsubishi is also going to unveil the L200, which will be the car’s European debut.
