Mitsubishi despite bare minimum sales has a lot of fans in India, for whom the company will be launching new versions of current SUVs soon. Meanwhile, it will be working on bringing five new models to India. As per latest reports, Attrage sedan and Delica MPV India launch are set to happen in the coming three years.
Mitsubishi Delica is a Toyota Innova rival which would be priced in the range of Rs. 15 to Rs. 20 lakhs if launched in India. It is likely that the company will produce it locally, but then they would have to be very optimistic of the product’s success.
P Vijayan, CEO of Hindustan Motor Finance Corporation Limited (HMFCL), has said that importing Delica as CBU would shoot the price at around Rs. 30 lakhs, which is not going to happen. The company is looking at CKD route with 15 to 20 percent initial localisation, which would be increased to about 40 percent as the product grows demand.
For 2015, new versions of Mitsubishi Outlander and Montero SUVs are en route. Only petrol engines paired with manual as well as automatic transmissions will debut this year, while diesel variants are slated for next.
