The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has just been launched this week for a price of Rs.23.53 lakhs (Ex-showroom New Delhi). For the Indian auto market, it’s Hindustan Motor’s Limited (HM) that manufactures Mitsubishi vehicles. Being manufactured as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) as on date, the Pajero Sport will be assembled as a Completely Knock Down Unit by end of this year.
Pajero Sport was launched at a media event attended by Mr. A Sankara Narayanan, Director of Hindustan Motors and Mr. Masahiko Ueki, Executive Officer and Corporate General Manager of Asia and ASEAN Office. In 2011, the SUV segment in India grew by 18% while the Pajero recorded 28% growth.
Sankara Narayanan had this to say. “Pajero Sport, launched in India today, introduces a new generation of SUV thinking, fusing fun and comfort of urban driving with the thrill and excitement of all-terrain off-road driving. It is a perfect amalgamation of power, luxury, style, safety and comfort,” he observed.
Mr. Ueki went on to say “We are confident that Pajero Sport will do superbly in India as well.” “I would like to express my commitment that Mitsubishi Motors will continuously introduce new models in the Indian market.”
Pajero Sport possesses a 2.5 liter 16 valve intercooled and VG turbo engine diesel engine offering 178 Bhp and 400 Nm torque. It has a 215 mm of ground clearance and hence should be ideal of off road conditions. Pajero Sport also possesses driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD and comes equipped with a USB music player. It’s fitted with an extra row of seats making this model a convenient and comfortable seven seater suitable for long distance travel in some challenging of road conditions. The vehicle has a turning radius of 5.6 meters, and there’s the on-demand super select 4 WD facility.
