Carpenter from Rewa presents PM Modi with wooden motorcycle
Crafted out of waste wood, this unique all wooden motorcycle was made by hand by Buddhasen Vishwakarma and presented to PM Narendra Modi as per the wishes of his 12 year old daughter Durga, a keen BJP follower.
This is not Vishwakarma’s first such unique gift to a notable figure in India. The adept carpenter has earlier presented a wooden Ganesh idol to Amitabh Bachchan. He has even given a wooden bullock cart to Digvijaya Singh, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and a temple made of wood to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Keen to fulfil his daughter’s wish, Vishwakarma, a native of Baikunthpur in Rewa hand built the 3 ft high motorcycle and took it to his residence in Delhi on December 4, 2016. He searched for the address of PM Narendra Modi on the internet with the help of his son Suraj, 22 and arrived at the gate with his gift.
Obviously he was turned away by the security personnel, but his perseverance stood him in good stead and he was escorted in to meet the Prime Minister only after the motorcycle was put through stringent scanning and he through security checks.
The meeting with the Prime Minister lasted 15 minutes. PM Modi asked about his family and asked his officers to note down all these details. He was also asked what he wanted from the PM but stated that he did not desire anything in return but had only come to fulfil his daughter’s wish.
Vishwakarma, a carpenter by profession is the father of 5 children. He had worked on the wooden motorcycle for 4 months while the meeting with Modi would stay on in his memory forever.
