Under the bonnet, Toyota LandC Roomy minivan stays stock, powered by a 1.0L 3-cylinder Petrol engine with up to 98 PS and optional AWD
Toyota Roomy is a popular minivan on sale in Japan. It is 3,725 mm in length and is a little longer than a Kei Car segment. This minivan has other badge-engineered versions sold as Daihatsu Thor and Subaru Justy. Stock versions of Toyota Roomy, Subaru Justy and Daihatsu Thor are nonchalant and don’t have any special attributes.
However, these vehicles can exude coolness when modified. Popular Japanese tuner, ESB Style, has come up with a kit for these vehicles that transforms them to look like a Land Cruiser LC300. Not by size or dimensions, but by the way it looks. We have to say, it is weirdly charming and looks very interesting.
Modified Toyota Roomy Minivan
Renowned tuner based out of Japan, ESB Style, has launched an aftermarket styling kit for Toyota Roomy, Daihatsu Thor and Subaru Justy. With these styling kits, users can make their minivan look like a Toyota Land Cruiser. Somewhat. ESB Style is calling it LandC Roomy and will showcase it at 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.
This styling kit for Toyota Roomy is also compatible with Subaru Justy and Daihatsu Thor. Pricing for this styling kit is revealed and are available to order in Japan. Front bumper is priced at JPY 1,00,000 (approx Rs 55K) and the rear bumper is priced at JPY 60,000 (approx Rs 33K).
If you’re thinking this styling kit from ESB Style is all show and no go, you’re in for a surprise. That’s because ESB is also offering a new suspension it for Toyota LandC Roomy. New set of springs lifts this vehicle higher than stock by 30 mm, which lends an interesting stance and makes it more capable of going on the beaten path.
There are White steelies (steel wheels) on offer and they are wrapped with Toyo Open Country R/T tyres. Modifications on the inside include a Fox Mat bed which is foldable in nature and is capable of turning this minivan into a camper. Somewhat. The suspension kit costs JPY 50,000 (approx Rs 27K), white steelies cost JPY 60,000 (approx Rs 33K) and Fox Mat costs JPY 25,000 (approx Rs 14K).
Land Cruiser Inspired Looks
So, this entire kit costs around JPY 2,95,000 (approx Rs 1.61 lakh) and is available for order in Japan. What this money is buying, is a cutesy Land Cruiser inspired makeover to this minivan, including grill extension and beefier intakes. Coupled with the roof carrier and roof box, it is more adventure-y in appeal but is still a shade of the aura that Land Cruiser LC300 exudes.
Under the bonnet of this vehicle, there are no changes. So, the same 1.0L 3-cylinder engine does duty. With turbocharging, this engine is capable of generating up to 98 PS of peak power. There’s an optional AWD layout too, giving it some off-road capabilities.
