About a month ago in India, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), a conglomerate with revenues of over $73.1 billion in 2014; had bought the BMW 760Li High Security worth Rs 8 crores for their MD and Chairman, Mukesh Ambani. Now, it has emerged that RIL has bought another armoured car for Mr Ambani, this time it is the new Mercedes Benz S600 Guard, which is priced at Rs 8.9 crores, ex-showroom.
Customized at the Mercedes Benz Sindelingen plant in Germany, the 2015 S600 V-9 armored vehicle, the highest available currently, was registered with the Mumbai Regional Transport Office on Saturday. Mukesh Ambani, who is Chairman of the country’s largest private conglomerate, has been awarded Z Category security since April 2013. This armoured Mercedes Benz S600 is well equipped and complies with advice of security organizations where protection of occupants in the Z category is concerned.
With a base price of INR 8.9 crores for the 2015 Mercedes Benz S600 in India, RIL had to wait for eight months as their number in the global wait list queue was No.57. This means that they had booked the car even before it was officially launched or had entered production. This also implies that the demand for armoured cars is on the rise.
Called as the safest luxury spot on earth by Mercedes Benz, some of the high-security features includes bullet proof glass, grenade proof body and glass, tyres that can run with no air pressure, and much more.
Import duty, various taxes and levies besides insurance and armoured fitments saw the final price of the armoured vehicle purchased by RIL go upto Rs 11 crores.
