As part of MY2025 updates, diesel-iMT powertrain is no longer available with popular Kia cars such as Sonet, Seltos and Carens. This is likely a strategic move to streamline the product lineup based on evolving market dynamics and consumer preferences. Diesel variants of Sonet, Seltos and Carens will continue to be available with 6MT and 6AT transmission options.
Kia Sonet iMT trims, new HTK+(O) variant
For Sonet, the 6iMT transmission option is available with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Variants that get this powertrain option include HTK, HTK(O), HTK+(O) and HTX. HTK+(O) is the new variant introduced by Kia. In addition to the features available with the HTK(O), the new HTK+(O) gets features such as R16 crystal cut alloy wheels, electric sunroof and signature Tiger Nose Grille with knurled matte chrome surround.
Sonet HTK+(O) variant has crown jewel LED headlamps, star map LED DRLs and connected tail lamps, ice cube LED fog lamps and body coloured spoiler. Inside, Sonet HTK+(O) has Indigo Pera leatherette seats and leatherette wrapped steering wheel, gear knob and door armrest. There’s a dash cam with dual camera, smartphone wireless charger, smart key push button start and remote engine start on smart key.
Other highlights include fully automatic air conditioner, electric folding ORVMs, rear defogger and rear wiper and washer. Earlier, Kia used to offer the diesel-iMT with HTX and HTX+ variants. The HTX+ has been discontinued. Another update is that the Gravity Edition model has been discontinued for Sonet. It was launched last year during the festive season. It came with new colour choices and upgrades to the equipment list. Sonet is currently available in the price range of Rs 8.00 lakh to Rs 15.70 lakh.
Kia Seltos iMT trims, new variants
For Seltos, the iMT option is now available with only the HTK+ trim. It is available with the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. Power output is 160 PS and 253 Nm. This engine is also offered with a 7DCT transmission option. Earlier, the diesel-iMT for Seltos was available with the mid-spec HTX trim. Similar to the Sonet, the Gravity Edition for Seltos has also been deleted. But a total of three new trims have been introduced – HTK(O), HTK+(O) and HTX (O).
Seltos HTK+ with iMT transmission option has features such as projector fog lamps, leatherette wrapped steering wheel and gear knob and fully automatic air conditioner. Talking about Seltos GT range, the GTX trim has been discontinued. Only the GTX+ trim is available. Seltos is priced in the range of Rs 11.13 lakh to Rs 20.51 lakh.
Kia Carens iMT trims, variant rejig
iMT option for Kia Carens is available with Premium (O), Gravity and Prestige Plus trims. As is evident, Kia has retained the Gravity edition option with the Carens. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine is the same as that of Seltos. Another change for Carens is the deletion of Luxury trim. Now, only the Luxury Plus option is available.
Folks who prefer diesel AT can have this option with only the Prestige Plus (O) trim. For the top-spec X-Line trim, the diesel-AT option is no longer available. X-Line can be had with only the 1.5-litre turbo petrol DCT. Kia Carens is available in the price range of Rs 10.60 lakh to Rs 19.70 lakh.
