New 2012 Mahindra Xylo MPV launch on 8th February 2012: Auto war with Toyota Innova and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The new 2012 Mahindra Xylo MPV is now ready for its launch on 8th February 2012. The Xylo facelift has been previously spotted testing in Pune, , which was caught on tests earlier around Pune, and as per a WCF report, spyshots of the Mahindra vehicle were made available testing in Northern Europe. Talk about the MPV launch also arose at the time of the XUV500 SUV unveiling, making it very clear that it was the next big car from M&M.
While many would have expected the new Mahindra Xylo MPV to take center stage at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi, it was their range of Ssangyong vehicles (SUV range), Mahindra Reva NXR, and Mahindra Duro DZ two wheeler that was showcased. Consequently, the new Xylo and Xylo Mini launch was slotted for a later release.
The new 2012 Mahindra Xylo MPV would be powered by the 2.5-litre mEagle diesel engine that is seen on the preceding model year vehicle. As is the norm with a majority of model year vehicles, changes will be more cosmetic in nature including a new bonnet, headlamps, grille, and bumpers. This means interiors will bear a similarity with the existing variant, and redesigning focuses on the vehicle’s front and rear end.
The 2.5-litre mEagle diesel engine is a 3 cylinder diesel unit that records power of 70 bhp and 160Nm of torque. The 5+2 seater comes with two small seats as its third row seating meant for kids. The spare wheel as spotted earlier isn’t concealed below the vehicle but keeping in character with a sturdy SUV is mounted on the rear door.
In the MPV war that the Indian auto market is bracing itself for, the current model year Toyota Innova MPV face-lifted version was shown at the 2012 Auto Expo, and Maruti too used the event to showcase their next big car, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV for the in the Indian auto market.
