Just now Volkswagen CEO, Martin Winterkorn presented the new 2013 VW Golf (MK7, which is the 7th gen Golf) in Berlin. The world premiere of the new Golf was held at the Neue Nationalgalarie of modern art. Golf buyers will only be able to book their vehicles later this year with deliveries slated for early 2013. A closer and more detailed look will only be possible at the 2012 Paris Motor Show at the end of this month.
What exactly does the 2013 VW Golf MK7 has in store? For starters the new Golf will be 100 kgs lighter than the present model thanks to it lightweight body and weight saving interiors. We all know being lighter, means it would be more fuel efficient. Engines have been upgraded to ensure enhanced aerodynamics and lower CO2 emissions which have been reduced by 13.9%.
2013 Golf MK7 will be based on MQB platform which the company has used in a number of their models including Tiguan and Touran. With a longer wheelbase, the MK7 offers enhanced cabin space and boot space though headroom is compacted.
The new Volkswagen Golf will be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel. In petrol you have 1.4L TSI offering 140 hp. This also features cylinder deactivation and a mileage of 49 mpg (17.35 kmpl) while the base diesel offers 105 hp with a mileage of 62 mpg (21.95 kmpl).
Prices will be announced closer to launch dates.
