Audi A8 displays the German automakers newest autonomous driving and mild hybrid technology – Now revealed in Barcelona. Price of the fourth-generation Audi A8 will start at €90,600 ($103,248) in Germany while the A8 L will get a price tag of €94,100 ($107,236).
The new gen Audi A8 will be seen with advanced technology, active electromechanical suspension system and will be the first ever car in the market to receive level 3 autonomous driving. Level 3 self driving technology allows the vehicle to take over complete control driving at upto 60 kmph.
For Germany, Audi A8 will be presented with two V6 turbo engines. The 3.0 liter TDI will be capable of 280 hp power while the 3.0 liter TFSI will offer 340 hp power. Sometime later, a 4.0 liter TDI V8 will be introduced, capable of 435 hp power along with a V8 offering 460 hp power. A 6.0 liter W12 engine is also on the cards with output figures not yet specified.
Each of these engines will receive a belt alternator starter with 48 volt electrical system. Audi A8L, set for launch later will receive a 3.0 liter TFSI engine with an electric motor offering combined power of 449 hp and 516 lb/ft torque. With its lithium ion battery pack, the all electric range will be at around 50 km.
In terms of design, the Audi A8 is based on the Audi MLB Evo platform, thus making it lighter than its predecessor. It is akin to the Prologue Concept and is designed by Marc Lichte. 2018 Audi A8 receives new front and rear design elements in the form of slim horizontal headlamps, LED daytime running lights and a large chrome grille. At the rear, new tail lamps are evident along with twin LED lights.
