New Audi Q7 to be launched in India this month

A recent article in Financial Express suggests that the new Audi Q7 will be launched towards the end of this month. The German luxury car maker’s flagship SUV enjoys a healthy demand in India and the new gen model is hoping to capitalize on it.

Based on the latest version of MLB modular architecture which employs multiple materials, the new gen model is significantly lighter than the outgoing car. One can expect much better performance, driving dynamics and fuel efficiency.

The India-spec car is expected to be powered by the 3.0-litre V6 TDI diesel engine which has on tap a healthy 270 PS and 600 Nm of torque. The power is distributed to all the four wheels via a 8-speed automatic transmission and quattro AWD system.

The interior design too has nothing in common with the existing model.

The new Q7 adopts the brand’s latest design philosophy which opts for edgier elements which make for a slimmed down appeal. The interior too features a whole-new design and layout with new steering wheel, camouflaged AC vents, new gen MMI and Audi Virtual Cockpit (configurable instrument console).

The long list of features include LED Matix headlamps, plethora of electronic safety systems, multiple airbags, a comprehensive entertainment package and so on.

Like the outgoing car, the new Audi Q7 for the local market is expected to be assembled at the company’s CKD plant in Aurangabad. Expect the prices to be significantly higher than the current model. The car will lock horns with the new Volvo XC90, BMW X5 and Mercedes GL Class.
