Audi RS Q8 is the most expensive SUV from the company, and also their fastest ever
The Audi RS Q8 is set for launch in India later this month. Teased ahead of launch via official video, RS Q8 had made its global debut in November last year. It is the company’s fastest and most powerful SUV.
Claiming a lap time of 7 minutes and 42.2 seconds at Nürburgring, the Audi RS Q8 is one of the fastest SUV in the world. Compared to the regular Q8, the RS Q8 gets a new fascia, sporting a single frame front grille. It will also get revised front and rear bumpers, an integrated diffuser and distinctive RS spoiler.
Also on offer will be 22 inch wheels, which will be offered as standard with the RS Q8. If those are small, there is also the option of upgrading to 23 inch wheels. Custom side sills, a state of the art RS spoiler generating added downforce and a rear diffuser will be among its exterior features.
Bespoke Interiors
Where the interiors of the Audi RS Q8 are concerned, there are leather and Alcantara sports seats, an RS spec flat bottom, leather wrapped steering wheel, virtual cockpit and digital displays. As is also seen in the case of the standard Audi Q8, the RS Q8 will also be completely customized as per buyer’s demands.
Powering the Audi RS Q8 is a 4.0 liter, twin turbocharged V8 petrol engine offering 600 PS (591 hp) power and 800 Nm torque. Power will be sent to all four wheels via an 8 speed automatic gearbox along with Audi Quattro all wheel drive system. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is claimed at 3.8 seconds and it can surge past 200 km/h in 13.7 seconds while top speed is limited to 250 km/h going up to 304 kmph with an optional dynamic package.
The engine features mild hybrid tech. When the driver brakes / decelerates, the car’s intelligent system will start charging the lithium-ion battery. Also, when the driver takes foot off the pedal between speeds of 55 kmph and 160 kmph; the system decides to either switch off engine and coast or generate energy using engine braking.
Efficiency is further amplified via cylinder on demand system. Under this, cylinder number 2, 3, 5 and 8 are deactivated when the rpm is in the range of low to intermediate. RS Q8 also gets intelligent start-stop system.
Audi RS Q8 Price, Rivals
The Audi RS Q8 is likely to see a price tag upwards of Rs.2 crores upon launch in India. It will be seen as an able rival to the Lamborghini Urus, BMW X6 M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
The launch of Audi RS Q8 in India follows the launch of two other Q models earlier this year – the Q8 and A8 L. The second generation RS 7 Sportback also recently launched in the country is the fourth model on sale in India while the Q2 crossover is slated for launch sometime in September.
