New Audi RS5 Coupe debuts at 2017 Geneva Motor Show
With carbon fiber updates, weight reduction to the extent of 60 kgs is seen on the new Audi RS5.
Being Audi’s first sports model in the RS range, Audi RS5 gets powered by a 2.9 liter twin turbo V6 engine offering 450 PS peak power and 600 Nm peak torque mated to an 8 speed automatic gearbox and Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is achieved in 3.9 seconds while top speed stands at 280 kmph. Enhanced efficiency is thanks to a significant reduction in overall weight by around 60 kgs over its outgoing counterpart, to now stand at 1,655 kgs.
2018 Audi RS5 gets new exterior design with larger air intakes, wider grille and wheel arches along with optional Matrix LED lights. It gets an RS exhaust system, surface mounted spoiler lip and sits on 19” alloy wheels while customers will be given the option of 10” alloys as well. Interiors boast of PS sports seats with diamond stitching done up in Fine Nappa leather.
It gets a flat bottom RS multifunction steering wheel, RS logos embossed on seats and steering wheel while RS displays are evident on the Audi virtual cockpit. Where infotainment features are concerned, the 2018 Audi RS5 receives an optional MMI navigation system with MMI touch, Audi connect and LTE besides a WiFi hotspot option, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Head-up display offers information to driver, allowing them to keep an eye on the road ahead while 30 driver assistance systems are being presented with the new Audi RS that include lane departure warning, blind spot and collision warning.
This new 2018 Audi RS5 Coupe competes against the likes of BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C63. Slated to go on sale from June this year, the new Audi RS5 will be priced from €80,900 / US$ 86,186 / INR 57,09,119.
