The new Bajaj Avenger production target for the month of December stands at 20,000 units, thanks to the surging demand. With several minor changes which were not capital intensive, Bajaj was able to turn around the affordable cruiser’s fortune overnight.
In November 2014, the Avenger (was available only with 220 c engine then) clocked around 3,300 units but in November 2015, boosted by the introduction of three new variants, the cruiser’s sales posted a growth of nearly 300% at around 13,500 units. Talking to Moneycontrol, S. Ravikumar, President, Business Development, Bajaj Auto stated that third of the new variants is not available across the country yet and hence there is still room for growth in the coming months.
The company initially targeted a monthly sales of 9,000 units for the new Bajaj Avenger but now there seems to be a realistic chance of sustaining a volume of 12,000-15,000 units a month once the initial euphoria settles down. The new Avenger is available in Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220 variants. The Street twins feature flatter handlebar, black theme and alloy wheels to lure youngsters whereas the Cruise 220 sports a taller handlebar, pillion back rest, dual-tone color theme, chrome elements and spoke wheels to attract touring enthusiasts.
The New Bajaj Avenger Street 150 is priced at INR 75,000 while the 220 cc variants are being retailed for INR 84,000 (both prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi).
