
Bajaj Auto is prepping the launch of a new generation of Chetak electric scooter which will launch some time in 2026. There have been a few test mule sightings of this upcoming EV being tested in India. Spy shots suggest a slight redesign, while retaining its iconic Chetak shape. Bajaj Auto is expected to launch or debut this upcoming EV on January 14th.
When launched, this upcoming scooter will take on the likes of other family format electric scooters like TVS iQube, Ola S1 range and Ather’s Rizta. Currently, Bajaj Chetak enjoys a major market share in India’s electric scooter segment. With the launch of this new electric scooter, the company is expected to boost its market share further.

New Bajaj Chetak EV Launch Date
Bajaj has just officially teased its upcoming electric scooter. The teaser shows this upcoming Chetak electric scooter’s rear LED tail lights. This design has not been part of current Chetak scooters and will bring a unique look to the scooter’s overall aesthetics. As seen in the spy shots, There will be a new LED headlight design as seen in the spy shots.
Speaking of, there was a test mule sighting a couple of months ago, showing a new Chetak electric scooter design. One could speculate this spied EV on testing to be the one that Bajaj is teasing. In the new teaser, we can see a sort of W-shaped LED tail light housing that also integrates LED turn indicators.

We can see a Chetak badge above this tail light housing. This is very different to the current setup with split lighting elements. Recent spy shots have shown Chetak lettering in LED headlight instead of the Chetak logo. A tyre hugger at the rear is also expected with this update along with thin ORVM stalks in place of fancier ones used with current models.
What to expect?
Currently, Bajaj Chetak is offered in two primary models or series – 30 Series and 35 Series. While the 35 Series spawns three variants (3503, 3502, 3501), 30 Series only gets one variant (3001). As their names suggest, 30 Series comes with a 3.0 kWh battery pack and 35 Series with a larger 3.5 kWh battery pack offering a higher range.

In terms of equipment, one can expect a TFT touchscreen on higher variants and a basic LCD screen on lower variants. In terms of other features, Where powertrains are concerned, one could expect similar 3 kWh and 3.5 kWh battery packs as current models powering a hub motor, which has been spied in recent spy shots.
It has to be noted that current Chetak scooters do not get a hub motor and all of them come equipped with a mid-mounted electric motor. More details will be revealed when the scooter will be unveiled on January 14th, 2026.
