BMW Motorrad India has opened bookings for the soon to be launched BMW G310 R and G310 GS. Company dealers in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, New Delhi, Kochi, Chennai and Bengaluru have opened order books at a down payment of Rs 50,000.
Launch of both the bikes will take place on 18th July 2018. Ahead of that, test ride bikes have arrived at dealer. The same has been spied by Facebook page – Bikers Guide India.
BMW G310 R is a street naked bike unlike G310 GS which comes in as an adventure tourer. Both models will get new color schemes and receive ABS as standard. As compared to G310 R, BMW G310 GS gets longer suspension, larger front wheels and dual purpose tyres along with an engine sump guard. The two bikes receive USD front forks, rear monoshock with adjustable reload, wide tubeless tyres and disc brakes at the front and rear.
BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS are fitted on a steel trellis frame. Engine specifications on both bikes include a 313cc, liquid cooled, fuel injected, single cylinder engine offering 34 PS power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm torque at 7,500 rpm mated to a 6 speed transmission. Fuel efficiency is claimed at around 30 kmpl and top speed at 145 kmph.
BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS, are engineered and developed by BMW Germany. They are being manufactured by TVS Motors in India to keep costs down. In India, the two BMW bikes will be sold and serviced via premium dealership network of BMW Motorrad.
In terms of competition, the two bikes will have to face KTM 390 Duke, Royal Enfield Himalayan and Kawasaki Versys X-300. Prices could stand be in the range of Rs 3.5 lakhs for BMW G 310 R, going up to Rs 4 lakhs for BMW G 310 GS. Deliveries will be done on a first come first serve basis starting from August.
