Officially unveiled prior to its public debut at 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show (which is scheduled from 14-24th September), 2018 BMW M5 gets a more powerful engine, added styling updates and well equipped interiors. Prices have been revealed, the new M5 starts from €117,900 ($140,000 / INR 89,75,400).

The latest generation performance sedan comes in equipped with a highly efficient 4.4 liter M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine offering 600 PS peak power and 750 Nm torque mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission.

Its all wheel drive system allows the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.4 seconds and from 0 to 200 kmph in 11.1 seconds. It has a top speed of 250 kmph. This speed can be further enhanced to 305 kmph via an optional M Drivers Package. The quicker acceleration is due to BMW M5 coming in with an all wheel drive with active rear differential as against the rear drive layout seen on its earlier counterpart.

Exterior updates on Newew BMW M5 include a well designed front bumper, larger air intakes and aerodynamic mirrors. It also gets a sculpted aluminum hood, carbon fiber reinforced plastic roof and sits on 19” polished wheels with Orbit Grey finish and M specific tyres. At the rear, a four tail pile exhaust system and new bumper design with integrated diffuser is also noted.

High performance braking system gets blue six piston calipers in the front and single piston floating calipers at the rear. Extensive use of lighter material has reduced overall weight to 1,855 kgs which is about 23 kgs less than its outgoing model. Interiors are fitted with multifunction sports seats done up in Merino leather, an M sport steering wheel and an assortment of aluminum fittings. Red elements are seen throughout the M5 interiors adding to its sporty appeal.

Deliveries of 2018 BMW M5 will commence from spring when prices will be specified.
